Keep it short, keep it moving

A speed quiz works because the clock is the same every time. Ideas that suit it have short questions, answers a player can read in a glance, and a little variety every few questions. New to the format? Read what a speed quiz is first.

Themed nights

  • Decades night: one round per decade of music and film.
  • Sport night: a sport per round, with a numbers round for records and dates.
  • Geography night: first-letter countries and capitals, numbers for populations.
  • Science and nature: easy multiple choice, then harder numbers.
  • TV and film night: quotes, casts and release years.
  • Local night: questions about your town, venue or school, written by you.

Round ideas

A night works best as four or five short rounds with a different feel each time. Here are six to build from.

General knowledge opener

Multiple-choice questions across mixed topics. Easy to read in ten seconds, so it works as a warm-up.

First-letter round

Players pick the first letter of the answer: a country, an animal, a film. Fast to answer and easy to follow.

Numbers round

Dates, years, heights and counts. Players type the number, and 1,000 and 1000 are treated as the same answer.

Music round

Song questions play a clip and ask for the answer as multiple choice, a first letter or a number.

Mini-game break

Slot a mini-game between rounds to reset the room. Scores feed the same leaderboard.

Final round

Finish on your hardest questions while the leaderboard is close. The 10-second clock keeps it tense.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions should a speed quiz round have?

Eight to ten questions is a good round. At ten seconds a question that is a few minutes of play, short enough to keep the pace and long enough for the leaderboard to move.

Can I mix question types in one round?

Yes. Multiple choice, first-letter and number questions can sit in the same round, and song questions can be answered as any of those three.

Can I get ideas generated for me?

You can type a topic into the AI helper in the editor and it drafts questions for that round. Check and edit every question before you save.

Are the mini‑games part of the quiz?

They are extra rounds you can launch between questions, and their results feed the same leaderboard.
