Real track previews
Music rounds for any quiz, on real tracks
Qwiz Rush plays a short preview of a real track and every player races to name it on the same 10‑second clock. It is not a separate app or a fourth question type — it drops straight into your quiz, graded and scored like every other round.

What a Qwiz Rush music round is
A music round in Qwiz Rush is a guess-the-song question: players hear a short preview from a real track on the big screen and answer on their own device. Under the hood a song question is just a wrapper around the three core answer types — multiple choice, first letter and numbers — so it is graded by the same rules and scores on the same synchronized 10-second countdown as the rest of your quiz. A timing bonus rewards the players who recognise the track fastest.
Want to hear it first? The live, playable demo lives on the music games feature page — this page is about why a music round is worth adding and where it fits.
Why add a music round
A guess-the-song round changes the energy of a quiz. It rewards a different kind of quick thinking, gives every kind of player a moment to shine, and — because it runs on the same fast loop — it never slows the night down. Pair it with the word puzzle round to keep the format moving.
Add a music round in four steps
Pick the songs for the round
Search real tracks while you build the set and drop them straight into your questions — each one carries a genuine preview clip, so the round is built from the music itself.
Choose how players answer
A song question is graded like any other: multiple choice for song titles, first letter for an artist, or numbers for a release year. Same rules, same scoring.
Play the clip to the room
Start the game and put the projector view on the big screen. The preview plays for the room while the countdown runs, with the artwork tile and the now-playing bar on screen.
Reveal, score, next track
The answer reveals the moment the clock ends, the timing bonus rewards the fastest correct guess, and the leaderboard updates before the next song fires.
What a music round brings to the set
It is one question type with a soundtrack, so everything you already rely on still applies — and six things change for the better.
Real track previews
Every music question plays a short clip from a real track, so players race to name the song or artist the moment the preview drops.
Graded like every round
A song question is just a wrapper around your core types — players answer by multiple choice, first letter, or a number, and it scores on the same 10-second clock.
A word puzzle too
Mix in the word puzzle round to break up the pace, so a night of questions never settles into one rhythm.
Rewards fast ears
The timing bonus means the first players to recognise a track score highest — a music round turns into a genuine race to the buzzer.
Big-screen ready
Run it on the projector or a Chromecast/TV so the whole room hears the preview together while players answer on their own screen.
Drops into any quiz
Add a music round to a pub quiz, a classroom review, or a team social — it lives in the same set as your other questions, not a separate app.
See it and set it up
The music games feature page has the interactive demo, and the guides below show how a music round fits a quiz night or a classroom review.
Frequently asked questions
How does the music round work?
Each music question plays a short preview from a real track. Players listen and answer on their own device — by multiple choice, first letter, or a number — on the same synchronized 10-second countdown as any other question. The answer is revealed after the clock runs out.
Is a music round a separate game type?
No. A song question is a wrapper around the three core answer types (multiple choice, first-letter and numbers), so it is graded by the exact same rules and scores on the same live leaderboard. You can drop music questions straight into a set alongside your other rounds.
Do players need an app or an account to play?
No. Players join with a short game code in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or laptop — no install and no account required by default, and no personal data is collected from players by default.
Can I use music rounds in the classroom?
Yes. The same guess-the-song round works as a review game on the classroom board, with the preview playing on the big screen while students answer on their own device. You can also mix in the word puzzle round to vary the pace.
