Getting started
Is Qwiz Rush free?
Hosting is free with no fixed player cap. Sign in with Google to build and run quizzes; players join with just the quiz code and play anonymously by default, though a host can require Google sign-in.
Do players need to download an app or create an account?
No. Players join from any phone, tablet, or laptop browser by entering the quiz code — no install and no sign-up. They can play anonymously, or optionally sign in with Google for a persistent profile.
How many players can join?
Qwiz Rush is built for a roomful of teams competing in real time. Players join instantly by code with no setup, so it suits everything from a small group to a busy venue.
Is it QwizRush or Qwiz Rush?
Both names refer to the same game. The official name is Qwiz Rush (two words), but it is often written as one word — QwizRush — matching the domain, qwizrush.com. Either spelling gets you to the same place.
Playing a round
What types of questions can I ask?
Three core types: multiple choice, first-letter (players tap the first letter of the answer), and numbers (an on-screen numpad). Song questions wrap any of those three with a music preview clip.
How long do players have to answer each question?
Each question runs on a synchronized 10-second countdown by default (song questions get 30 seconds), and every player’s clock is kept in sync. Hosts can set a custom time limit per question.
How does scoring work?
A correct answer earns base points plus a timing bonus, so the fastest correct answers score highest. Per-question and overall leaderboards update live, and the authoritative scores are calculated on the server so they can’t be spoofed.
Are there game modes besides questions?
Yes — mini-games including Quick Draw, Tug of War, Hot Potato, Reaction Challenge, Click Competition, and head-to-head Duel Matchups, plus a Wordle-style word puzzle and music rounds.
Screens & devices
Can I show the quiz on a TV or projector?
Yes. Open the projector URL on any big screen for a read-only display, cast to a Chromecast, or pair a smart TV at qwizrush.com/tv using the 6-digit code shown on the host screen.
Does it work on phones?
Yes — any modern phone, tablet, or laptop browser works. If a player’s Wi-Fi drops mid-game, their session is restored automatically when they reconnect.
Does Qwiz Rush work offline?
No. It is a real-time, synchronized game that needs an internet connection. Audio clips are cached locally for smooth playback, but the live loop runs online.
Building & hosting
Can I make my own quizzes?
Yes. The editor lets you build question sets, organize them into rounds, generate draft questions from a round title with an AI helper, and tune scoring. Edits auto-save to your account, and you can share a public set with other hosts via a link.
How is cheating prevented?
Answers are graded on the server, never on the device, so a score cannot be edited from a player’s screen. Timing is verified server-side, input is rate-limited, and a host can block a player from a question.
