Rope Swing: a live rope‑cutting puzzle powered by quiz answers

Rope Swing is a physics puzzle for the whole room. Each player slices ropes so a hanging candy swings, drops and lands in a critter's mouth, collecting stars on the way. Starting and retrying a level costs energy, and the quiz is how you get it back.

Hosts use it as a calmer, thinking-heavy break from the question loop. Everyone plays their own sequence of levels for the same window, and the score combines puzzle progress with correct answers.

Quick facts

Players
1 or more. No minimum and no fixed cap. Every player works through their own levels, so it runs solo or with a whole room.
Length
120 seconds of play after a 3.5 second intro.
Solo room
Yes. The launcher has no minimum player count. A solo player gets the full 120 seconds and the same energy rules, with no one else required.

How it works

  1. The host launches Rope Swing from a loaded question set and a 3.5 second intro runs.

  2. Each player starts with 40 energy out of a maximum of 100, and beginning a level costs 15.

  3. The player swipes across the ropes to slice them, swinging the candy into the critter's mouth and collecting up to 3 stars.

  4. A retry after a failed level costs 10 energy, and bailing out of a live level to start over costs 5. A cleared level refunds a little energy, more for more stars.

  5. When energy runs low, a question card opens, and correct answers refill it. When the 120 seconds end, scores decide the order.

Swipe across a rope to slice it. Tap an answer tile when the energy card is open. There is nothing to type, as questions appear as tiles.

Quiz questions

Questions are the recharge for the energy that levels cost. A correct answer adds 22 energy plus up to 10 more for answering quickly, capped at 100, and a wrong answer adds none. Correct answers also score directly: 100 points plus up to 100 for speed, and a small extra if the jar was nearly full. Levels add 100 points each and stars add 25 each. Rope Swing takes up to 10 questions from your set, and they are marked used so the main quiz does not ask them.

Tips for hosts

  • Remind players that quick correct answers pay more energy and more points, so reading fast and carefully both matter.
  • Suggest that players top up before they hit zero, since a failed level costs 10 energy to retry and a wrong answer gives nothing.
  • Run it for rooms that like puzzles rather than reflexes, as levels 1 to 4 have no hazards or hard timers.

Frequently asked questions

How is Rope Swing scored?

Each cleared level is worth 100 points and each star 25. Each correct recharge answer adds 100 base points plus a speed bonus of up to 100, and a small capped extra when the energy jar is nearly full.

What happens when a player answers wrong in Rope Swing?

A wrong answer gives no energy and no points, so they stay low on energy and may be unable to start or retry a level. There is no other penalty. Correct answers pay 22 energy plus a speed bonus.

How many levels are there in Rope Swing?

There are 20 authored levels, and the first five act as a tutorial that never returns. A strong player who runs out of levels moves on to harder remixes of levels 6 onwards, some on a tightening clock.
