Garden Siege: a live lane‑defence game powered by quiz answers

Garden Siege puts every player in charge of their own garden. Gnomes march up five flower beds towards the shed, and the player plants defenders called the Shed Brigade to stop them. Defenders cost drops, and quiz answers are the main way to bank more.

Hosts use it as a longer, strategic break from the question loop. Each player defends at their own pace for a round length you choose, and the score rewards kills, waves survived and correct answers.

Quick facts

Players
1 or more. No minimum and no fixed cap. Each player defends their own garden, so it works solo or with a whole room.
Length
120 seconds by default after a 3.5 second intro. The host can set the round from 60 to 600 seconds.
Solo room
Yes. The launcher has no minimum player count and every player has their own garden. A solo player plays the full round, though the launcher lists the game as needing 8 usable questions in the set.

How it works

  1. The host launches Garden Siege from a loaded question set, optionally after changing the round length, and a 3.5 second intro runs.

  2. Each player starts with 150 drops, enough to plant a first defender or two, and can collect more drops from the lawn.

  3. Gnomes advance up five lanes in waves, and the player plants defenders on the beds to stop them.

  4. Every so often a question comes up on the shed clipboard, or the player rings the ask bell, and a right answer banks more drops.

  5. Five breaches end the run, though a player can pay to come back in. The round ends on the clock and the highest score wins.

Player controls

Drag a defender from the shed onto a bed to plant it, tap the drops that appear to collect them, and tap a placed defender to upgrade it. Answers are tapped as tiles on the shed clipboard.

Host settings

  • Garden Siege duration in seconds, from 60 to 600 (default 120).

Quiz questions

Questions are a recurring power-up rather than a constant. A correct answer banks 60 drops plus up to 90 more for answering within 2.5 seconds, tapering to nothing by 9 seconds, and adds 40 to 100 score points on the same speed curve. Consecutive right answers charge power-ups such as a drop burst, overdrive, slow-mo and a lane bomb. Each question is graded once by the server. A wrong answer earns nothing, locks the quiz for a moment and burns that question.

Tips for hosts

  • Remind players that a fast right answer pays far more, so reading the card first and then tapping quickly beats a blind guess.
  • Use a longer round for strategy-minded rooms: the pool of borrowed questions grows with the round, from 8 up to 30.
  • Point out that upgrading costs the same as the defender, so players with a full bed can strengthen a defender instead of buying another.

Frequently asked questions

How is Garden Siege scored?

Score adds up kills at 10 points each, correct answers, 5 per sun collected, 25 times the wave number for each wave reached, and 150 for each boss downed. The score is monotonic, so it never goes down in a round.

What happens if a player answers wrong in Garden Siege?

They earn no drops and no points for that card. The quiz locks for a moment and the question is burned, so it cannot be retried for full marks. The streak that charges power-ups also resets.

How many questions does Garden Siege use?

It borrows one question per 12 seconds of play, at least 8 and at most 30, and marks them used so the main quiz skips them. Once all have been served, questions the player got right can come round again for a little energy.
