Question game · Qwiz Rush mini-game
Zombie Rush: a live infection chase with quiz pulses
Zombie Rush drops the whole room into one shared 3D neon city block. One player is patient zero and hunts the rest. Anyone who is tagged turns into a zombie after a short beat and joins the hunt, so the horde grows while the survivors run.

Three times during the chase a quiz pulse opens for a few seconds. A correct answer banks a speed charge and adds to your score. The last 20 seconds are a Final Stand, where a closing storm pushes everyone into the middle.
Quick facts
- Players
- 1 or more. No fixed cap in the launcher. It is built for a whole room sharing one city, and a solo round starts with the single player as patient zero.
- Length
- 80 seconds of chase after an 8 second patient-zero brief: 60 seconds of free chase, then a 20 second Final Stand.
- Solo room
- Limited. Nothing stops a solo launch and the round does not end instantly, but a solo player starts as patient zero with no survivors to hunt. It plays best with two or more players.
How it works
The host launches Zombie Rush and an 8 second brief reveals patient zero, with humans getting a 3 second head start to scatter.
Humans run with one joystick or WASD and the arrow keys, while zombies chase and tap Lunge for a roughly 3 metre burst that grabs a survivor in reach.
Three quiz pulses open at 12, 30 and 48 seconds after the chase begins and each lasts 7 seconds, while the horde slows to 0.6 times speed.
Serum vials appear every 5.5 seconds from 4 seconds in, and picking one up scores. A tagged human converts after a 1 second beat and keeps scoring.
In the last 20 seconds a storm closes in, and a human caught outside it loses infection health and eventually turns.
Player controls
Move with a joystick on a device, or WASD and the arrow keys on a keyboard. Zombies tap the Lunge button, or press E or Enter. During a pulse, tap an answer tile, and spend a banked charge with the charge button.
Quiz questions
Only 3 questions are used, one for each pulse window. A correct pulse answer banks one charge, up to a maximum of 2. A human spends a charge on Adrenaline and a zombie on Frenzy (longer lunge reach), and each doubles speed for 2.5 seconds. Each correct answer is also worth 3 seconds of credit in the ranking score. A wrong pulse answer causes a stumble: half speed for 0.8 seconds. Questions are marked used so the main quiz does not ask them.
Tips for hosts
- Brief players before launch that the three pulses are the only quiz moments, and that answering costs a moment of standing still while the horde slows.
- Use it for larger rooms: the horde grows as people are tagged, and converted players keep scoring so nobody is knocked out.
- Tell survivors to head for the middle before the Final Stand, because the storm closes from the map edge.
Frequently asked questions
How is Zombie Rush scored?
Ranking adds time survived, half the time spent hunting, 10 seconds per tag, 2 seconds per vial and 3 seconds per correct answer, all counted on one scale. Nobody's run is zeroed when they are infected.
How many questions does Zombie Rush use?
Exactly three, one for each quiz pulse. They are taken from your set and marked used so the main quiz skips them. Each pulse window lasts 7 seconds, and the horde moves at 0.6 times speed while it is open.
How is patient zero chosen in Zombie Rush?
It is picked from the preceding question's results: a wrong answerer is chosen first, the slowest of them if several, otherwise the slowest correct answerer. With no earlier results it falls back to a seeded random pick.
