Tumble Tower: a live block‑pulling game for small teams

Tumble Tower splits the room into groups of two to five, each sharing one tower of 36 blocks. Players take turns dragging a block out and stacking it on top. Completed rows bank points; a collapse loses whatever has not been banked, then the tower rebuilds and play carries on.

Hosts use it as a tense team break. A question set is optional: if one is loaded, the player waiting for their turn can answer a quick card for a steadier pull.

Quick facts

Players
2 or more. Needs at least 2 players. Groups are 2 to 5 people, so any room size works; the host cannot launch with fewer than 2.
Length
A 4 second intro, then a 100 second play window. Each player's pull-and-place turn lasts 13 seconds.
Solo room
No. The host sees 'Tumble Tower needs at least 2 players in the room.' if only one is present, because no one builds alone.

How it works

  1. The host launches it and active players are shuffled into groups of about 4 (never fewer than 2, never more than 5) who share one tower.

  2. Each group starts with a 12-level tower, three blocks per level, and the first member takes a 13 second turn.

  3. On your turn you drag a lit block straight out of the tower and it is stacked on top; the turn then passes to the next teammate.

  4. Each placement adds points to an unbanked pot, which is banked when the placement completes a row above the starting height.

  5. If the tower collapses, the unbanked pot is lost and the streak resets, but the tower rebuilds and play continues until the 100 second bell.

  6. Groups are ranked by final score, and every present member of a tower receives that tower's placement points.

Player controls

On your turn, drag a lit block straight out of the tower with a finger or pointer. On a device without 3D support you tap to stack instead.

Quiz questions

Optional. If the host's loaded set matches, up to seven multiple choice, letters or numbers questions are drawn from it as Steady Hands cards. The player on deck has 9 seconds to answer: right gives a calmer pull and a golden block worth 100 extra points, wrong gives a shakier pull, and no answer does nothing. With no set loaded the game is pure skill.

Tips for hosts

  • Keep an eye on the pot: points are only safe once a row is completed, so slow, clean pulls beat risky ones.
  • With seven or more players you get several towers at once, which keeps the wait between turns short.
  • Load a question set first if you want the Steady Hands cards; the game runs fine without one.

Frequently asked questions

How are Tumble Tower teams formed?

Active players are shuffled and split into groups of about four, bounded to between two and five, and nobody is left alone. Five players make one group, six make 4 and 2, seven make 4 and 3. The shuffle prefers new teammates over last round's.

How does the team score work?

Each block placed scores 120, plus 40 if the pull was clean, a growing streak bonus for consecutive clean pulls, and a row bonus starting at 100 that rises by 25 per row. A collapse forfeits unbanked points. Towers are ranked by score, then height, then blocks.

What happens when the tower falls?

Points not yet banked are lost and the clean-pull streak and row ladder reset. Banked points stay. The tower then rebuilds in about a second and a half and the group keeps taking turns until the shared timer ends.
