Penguin Bowls: a live curling game for your quiz
Penguin Bowls is curling on ice with penguins. Each player bowls their own penguins down a sheet of ice at the house, while Big Blubber, a big elephant seal, defends it with his seals and lobs snowballs and fish. The stone closest to the centre wins each end.

Quick facts
- Players
- 1 or more. Works solo or with a whole room. Every player plays their own sheet, so there is no fixed player cap.
- Length
- Two minutes of bowling after the cabinet's how-to and count.
- Solo room
- Yes. Each player bowls against Big Blubber on their own sheet, so one player can play it.
How it works
The host launches Penguin Bowls and every device sets up its own sheet of ice and Big Blubber's seals.
Players touch anywhere, pull back and let go to bowl. While a penguin slides they can drag sideways to curve it and scrub to sweep it.
After four penguins the end is scored. Penguins nearer the button than his best seal score by ring, the closest scores double, and a house with none of his seals in it is a clean house.
Knocking seals out, hitting Big Blubber and swatting his snowballs add bonus points, and combos raise a multiplier.
At the bell the player with the most points takes 4 leaderboard points, second takes 3, third takes 2, and everyone else who bowled takes 1. Tied players share the higher place.
Player controls

Quiz questions
Not needed. Penguin Bowls is a pure skill game and uses no questions, so you can launch it from the Mini-games drawer at any time.
Tips for hosts
- About a three-quarter pull stops on the button.
- Tell players to knock his closest seal out before they draw to the centre.
- The last 20 seconds pay double, so the final end matters most.
